Singing, dancing and flower-crown-making to welcome lovely May. Join us between the pond and the playground (“I” Street side of the park).
All ages. Free.
SEPTEMBER 3: Abbots Bromliad (People’s Park, Tacoma – 1:30 to 2:45pm) Dancing with antlers—FREE! All ages! People who come to The Christmas Revels are fascinated (or mystified!) by the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance. So we join the California Revels and have a Bromliad. Come learn the dance and participate in it. Or bring a penny whistle, recorder or fiddle and play the tune. We’ll teach the steps and general concept. Bring your own (branches can make pretty good antlers – look around your yard). Or just bring a picnic and watch. We’ll provide musicians and a caller. We’ll also play some fun games and sing some rounds.
SEPTEMBER 20, 6:30 – 7:45pm: Tacoma Sings: Chihuly Bridge of Glass
Singing on the Chihuly Bridge of Glass to sing-out summer and sing-in autumn. Music to listen to as you arrive (on the Glass Museum side), then we’ll distribute song sheets and encourage everyone to join in. We’ll sing fun songs various places on the bridge and wrap up with a few lovely rounds in the amphitheater beside the History Museum. Bring a lantern if you want. We’ll light them as the sun sets. Beautiful.
October is Tacoma Arts Month. There are many fun things to do.
Puget Sound Revels is offering a free concert – a Kaleidoscope of Song October 27 @ 7:00 Follow the Green Man through the year in a swirl of breathtaking music drawn from singing traditions across time and space. We’ll be in the little theater in the History Museum. Happy Arts in Tacoma Month! Please sign-up for free tickets on Brown Paper Tickets so we can keep track of attendance (don’t want to over fill the auditorium). Thanks!
The Christmas Revels – December 15 – 19, 2018 Rialto Theater, Tacoma
A mid-winter Celebration of Traditional Music, Dance, and Drama
This year, we’ll be celebrating in a rural English village where the doings of the wee folk – fairies, hobs, brownies and such – were part of everyday life. Expect singing, dancing, and storytelling. Expect beauty, mystery, and hilarity. Bring family and friends to this lively concoction of folk tradition and high art that plays to sell-out audiences of all ages from all over the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
